Full Workshop Toolkit: Define your Purpose, Vision and Mission
Give your team a reason to show up that goes beyond a salary.
A collaborative 90-minute workshop to set your team's purpose, vision, and mission — together.
Purpose isn't a poster on the wall. It's the reason your best people stay, your clients trust you, and your team makes better decisions under pressure.
Most teams operate without a clearly articulated purpose, vision, or mission — not because they don't care, but because creating them feels complicated, time-consuming, or like something that requires a consultant and a two-day offsite.
This workshop kit makes it simple. In 90 minutes, your team will work through all three concepts together, producing first drafts of each statement that actually reflect who you are — not generic corporate language.
By the end of the session, your team will have:
• Clarity on the difference between purpose, vision, and mission — and why all three matter
• Draft statements for all three, co-created by the whole team
• A gut-check alignment process to ensure the three statements work together
• Concrete next steps to refine and embed the work
The facilitator guide includes real-world examples (Patagonia, TED), guidance for handling sceptics, and clear explanations of how to distinguish between purpose and mission — the distinction most teams get wrong.

FAQ
Isn't purpose, vision, and mission just corporate jargon?
It can be — when it's done as a reporting exercise. Done well, it's the clearest thinking a team can do. The best business decisions, hiring choices, and strategic pivots all become easier when you know why you exist and where you're going.
What if our team is cynical about this kind of work?
The facilitator guide directly addresses this — including a specific approach for opening the session in a way that acknowledges past experiences without letting scepticism shut the room down. Cynicism usually comes from having done this badly before. The process here is different.
Will we finish with a complete, polished statement?
You'll finish with strong first drafts. The guide recommends a light follow-up process to refine the wording with wider team input before finalising. First drafts done collaboratively are almost always better than polished statements written by one person.
Can we use this alongside Workshop 2 (Values)?
Yes — these two workshops complement each other beautifully. Many teams run values first, then purpose/vision/mission. Others do it the other way around.
→ One session. Three statements. A team that knows where it's going.
